BEWLEY BIDS FOR 2ND GOLD MEDAL

DAN BEWLEY admits it’s “pretty special” to represent his country as he bids for a second Gold medal. The Cumbrian delivered Speedway of Nations glory with Robert Lambert at the National Speedway Stadium back in 2021.

Now the same three riders, with Tom Brennan at reserve, will be bidding for victory in Manchester on Saturday night.

He said: “I’m coming round to the Speedway of Nations now that we’ve got the World Cup back.

“I think rotating them is pretty cool and it makes the World Cup extra special too.

“Obviously anytime you can represent your country is pretty special and to get a Gold is something else.

“I’ve done hundreds of laps around that track. But I feel you never get two meetings the same way. It’s always good racing and I feel like it’s a neutral track even though a few of us have ridden there quite a lot.

“It’s a huge blow to see Woffy have another big crash. It wasn’t his fault I don’t think, just racing.

“It’s more of a shame just to see him injured again. Hopefully his recovery goes well and he can be back sooner rather than later.

“It would certainly look cool if we could get the same result and get another similar picture like three years ago.

“Emil (Sayfutdinov) and Artem (Laguta) won it three times in a row. But if we could get basically the same podium again, that would be pretty special.”
