Wroclaw are waiting on news of Dan Bewley’s fitness ahead of their PGE Ekstraliga trip to Leszno on Sunday.

The Great Britain Speedway of Nations hero was involved in a heavy crash at Leicester on Thursday, being withdrawn from the meeting after the Heat 6 incident.

Bewley was chasing Lions duo Richard Lawson and Max Fricke into the third bend, when Fricke lost control and spun leaving Bewley nowhere to go but into the fence.

Aces boss Mark Lemon already hinted that Bewley is likely to miss their trip to Belle Vue on Monday, but news is awaited as to his prospects for the trip to Leszno.

That meeting could have major implications at the bottom of the table because the hosts are running out of time to save their Ekstraliga status, although those hopes remained alive with a win over Grudziadz last week.

Grudziadz are seventh in the table, two points ahead of Leszno, and they race at home to second placed Gorzow on Friday.

A maximum of two points are at stake in that meeting because of the 0-0 dual walkover when the reverse fixture was not staged, so there is no bonus point to be contested.

Should Grudziadz lose that meeting, they could conceivably find themselves bottom at the end of the weekend, if Leszno defeat Wroclaw. The bonus point is highly unlikely as Wroclaw lead 57-33 but Leszno are only 15 race points adrift of their nearest rivals.

The other team on nine league points, along with Grudziadz, are Czestochowa, who are on a three-match losing sequence and face a difficult trip to Torun on Sunday, although they do hold a ten-point advantage for the aggregate point.
Robert Lambert lines up for the home team against GP rivals Mikkel Michelsen and Leon Madsen, and a home win could virtually cement Torun’s place in the play-offs.
The other fixture this weekend sees leaders Lublin travelling to Zielona Gora on Friday evening, holding a 56-34 lead from the reverse fixture, and the right combination of results this weekend would see the defending champions confirmed as league leaders ahead of the play-offs.

All eight teams are also due to be in action in Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga this weekend, in the penultimate round of fixtures for all but two clubs.

Bottom club Gdansk travel to Lodz with both facing uncertain futures as results this weekend could see Gdansk officially relegated, whilst Lodz have been put up for sale which leaves their 2025 participation in doubt despite possessing one of the most modern stadiums in Poland.

On track, Tom Brennan is included in the Gdansk line-up, but Lodz will be favourite for maximum points as they lead 49-41 from the reverse fixture.

Gdansk have three points with three matches remaining, with both Lodz and Rzeszow on nine with two to go. Rzeszow have a home meeting against Poznan, who look to be safe in the top six, and their previous clash this season was close with Poznan 45-44 ahead.

At the top of the table, leaders Ostrow host Krosno, where they won 49-41 earlier this season, but should there be any slip-ups from the hosts they could be overhauled by Bydgoszcz who are just a point behind as they head to third-placed Rybnik, having achieved a massive 61-29 victory in the reverse match.

There is one meeting in the National Speedway League this weekend, with Adam Ellis in action for Pila as they head to Landshut on Sunday.
