BRENNAN LEADS GB IN LONIGO

TOM BRENNAN wants to end the Great Britain season on another huge high.

The Swindon-born star has enjoyed a sensational campaign for clubs and country.

Brennan, 23, has picked up a second Gold medal in the Speedway of Nations and finished on the rostrum in the British Championship for a second time.

Now he leads his national side into action for the last time in the FIME European Pairs Final this week in Lonigo, Italy.

Brennan will spearhead the side with Dan Thompson and Leon Flint.

It means they will be one of the youngest team trio to ever compete in the event.

He admits: “Whenever you pull on the Great Britain suit it means something a little bit more special. It’s not just another meeting.

“I’ve had some great days and nights over the past few seasons and been fortunate enough to pick up a few medals.

“To win two Speedway of Nations Gold medals is awesome. I wasn’t able to race this year because Robert (Lambert) and Dan (Bewley) did such a good job. But it was great to be part of it.

“Now we go to the final GB event of the year in Lonigo bidding to finish the season on a high.

“This year will always go down as a successful one for GB, any further success would be the cherry on the cake.”

Brennan lines-up with less experienced team-mates Thompson and Flint but is convinced they can do a job.

He added: “Dan and Leon have had really strong seasons for their clubs and they’ve performed really well for GB.

“We are a young team but I’ve always believed that if you are good enough, you are old enough. We need to prove that in Italy.”
